How To Grow My YouTube Channel
YouTube has quickly become an extremely popular platform with an incredible amount of content creators. We sat down with Bob Baker, St. Louis-based music marketing expert, educator, musician, artist, comedian, author, and YouTuber. Over the past 14 years, Bob has grown his YouTube channel, Bob Baker Affirmations, to 148,000 subscribers and over 16million total views. Bob shared with us ways to grow your YouTube channel using viewer engaging and algorithm friendly tactics.
Customize Thumbnails
Thumbnails are what the viewers will notice first before clicking on your video. Customize your thumbnail to be visually pleasing and eye-catching.
Keyword Titles
You want to use keywords in your title that relate to the topic of your video and you know people are searching for. Bob goes in detail on how you can use the YouTube and Google search bars to your advantage in titling your videos.
Descriptions
The viewer can only see the first few lines of your description before having to click “read more,” but you can put a lot into your description. You want consistency between your title and description.
Title and Video Relativity
YouTube creates automatic transcriptions and uses that to determine if a video is related to its title and whether the video is worth pushing out into the algorithm. This is why it is key to say early on in the video what it is about.
